Uzbekistan Launches Subsidy Program to Boost Modern Swimming Pool Construction
The government offers up to 50% subsidies for building modern swimming pools, enhancing opportunities in tourism, sports infrastructure, and related digital payment systems.

In a strategic move to stimulate investment in sports and tourism infrastructure, the Uzbek government has introduced a subsidy program to support entrepreneurs constructing modern swimming pools. This initiative aims to cover up to 50% of construction and commissioning costs, with a cap of 100 million Uzbek soms per project.
Subsidy Details and Application Process
Under the newly approved administrative regulations, entrepreneurs planning to build state-of-the-art swimming pools can apply for financial assistance to offset nearly half of their expenses. The subsidy program targets the first 100 swimming pool projects commissioned between February 1, 2026, and January 1, 2028.
Interested applicants must submit their proposals to the Tourism Committee through either the State Services Center or the Unified Interactive State Services Portal (YaIDXP). Once the Tourism Committee approves the reimbursement, subsidy funds are transferred to the applicant's bank account within 10 business days.
“Modern swimming pools represent not only a step toward healthier lifestyles but also a pathway to developing regional tourism, improving sports infrastructure, and creating new jobs,” emphasized government officials.
Fintech and Digital Economy Implications
This subsidy initiative is poised to impact Uzbekistan’s fintech and digital economy sectors significantly. The construction and operation of modern swimming pools require seamless integration of digital payment systems for memberships, bookings, and services, thereby driving demand for secure and efficient fintech solutions.
Moreover, as these facilities attract more visitors and sports enthusiasts, there will be increased adoption of cashless payments and digital banking services. This transition will encourage fintech companies to innovate in payment processing, cybersecurity, and customer experience tailored to the leisure and wellness industries.
Investors and tech firms should note that the expanding sports and tourism infrastructure creates new opportunities for tech stocks related to digital payments, cybersecurity, and online service platforms in Uzbekistan’s growing digital economy.
Economic and Social Benefits
Beyond the fintech landscape, the subsidy program also fosters local economic growth by promoting healthy living and attracting tourists. The development of swimming pools is expected to generate new employment opportunities, stimulate ancillary businesses, and contribute to regional development.
Entrepreneurs are encouraged to leverage this government support to initiate projects that blend traditional infrastructure with modern digital technologies, positioning their businesses at the forefront of Uzbekistan’s digital transformation in leisure and sports sectors.
