German Politician Calls for Ukraine to Share Advanced Drone Technologies Amid Defense Cooperation

Germany is seeking enhanced defense collaboration with Ukraine through the transfer of advanced drone technologies developed by Kyiv, according to Alexander Hoffmann, chairman of the Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU) parliamentary group in the Bundestag.

Hoffmann proposed that the German and Ukrainian governments establish an intergovernmental agreement to formalize the sharing of Ukraine's latest unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies with the German military. The appeal was made in an interview published on July 25, signaling Germany's intent to integrate innovative Ukrainian drone capabilities to bolster its defense and deterrence posture.

The CSU is part of Germany's ruling conservative bloc alongside the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), which, together with the Social Democratic Party (SPD), leads the federal government coalition. “We want to obligate Ukraine to share this expertise so that we can become stronger together,” Hoffmann stated.
